The story of Daryl Borkholder

I want to share a little about my life and my experience with ENANDE. I have had back problems since I was a child, often experiencing issues with my lower back or a hip being out of place. By the age of 15, I was experiencing setbacks with back pain at a level of 3. By age 22, it was slowly getting worse with more frequent setbacks, requiring regular chiropractic visits for pain at a level 5.

Then, in August 2017, I suffered a severe breakdown with extreme pain, at a level of 10 or more, radiating down my left leg into my left foot. I was on my back for three weeks and could hardly walk. After four weeks, I could walk a little, but my left foot did not step straight; it turned sideways. After a couple of months, I could move again, but very slowly. In March 2018, I started ABC treatments. Within two months, I could walk almost normally again, and by the third month, I could work a six-hour day. These treatments allowed me to live a normal daily life for the most part, but from that point until 2025, I still had breakdowns approximately twice a year.

During these episodes, I would be on the floor for about three days, followed by five days of recovery before I could start moving again. My last breakdown was in June 2025, and after that, we decided it was time to do something else.

Through some friends, we heard of ENANDE in Germany. After doing some research, I started the application process. From the beginning, everything went smoothly and quickly. Judy was very prompt and helpful in guiding me through the process. After submitting my information to Germany, we were approved in less than 14 days with a surgery date of August 28, 2025, which I accepted. The ENANDE team handled everything from start to finish—flights, hotels, and taxis—which was awesome for us.

After surgery, I immediately felt relief from my pain. There is no more pain in my left leg or foot, I stand straighter, and I can walk without pain. I can now walk three miles with no problem, whereas before surgery, I could only walk a quarter of a mile. I want to give thanks to Judy, Christiane, and Dr. Jan Spiller for making this a success and for improving the quality of life for people. May God bless them and all of ENANDE.
