After the surgical therapy, it is advisable to undergo rehabilitative measures.
Immediately after surgery, the physiotherapist in the hospital will start the program. Thus, the patients regain their mobility while still in the hospital, at first in the ward until the patients are ready to walk outside.
In the early postoperative stages, the patients will then undergo a physiotherapy program that has been tailored individually to their needs. Thus, the patients can take on their journey home around the 10th to 14th day after surgery. (Fit to travel).
After less complex surgeries (e.g. cervical or lumbar ADR) the patients can then continue the exercieses they have learnt while in the hospital and work towards their full recovery in their own time.
For complex spinal surgery or endoprosthetic replacement of large joints we advise for intensive follow-up treatment in combination with an in-patient stay at a specialized rehab facility. We are happy to help find the right facility for this purpose. This specialized rehabilitation provides the patients with neuromuscoscelettal and mobility functions, cardiovascular and psychological components, as well as useful knowledge about their own complaints.
